Welcome to the home page of the organisation which aids downsizers wishing to move to Transylvania and start (or continue) a low impact life.

Low Impact Living Transilvania puts the environment and the good of all before profit. LILTrans will always do this, without exception and without compromise.

Low Impact Living Transilvania (LILTrans) is a company registered in Romania. It is licensed to buy/sell/rent property. At the moment it is wholly owned by Douglas Mcfarlane and Sara Meaker.

We exist to encourage environmentally-minded people from Western Europe to come and live in a region of Transylvania which is known in Hungarian as the Kalotaszeg. Hopefully those who come will form a loose eco-community. The company aims to make this easier. Our intention is to widen the ownership of the company. Each person who buys through the company will become an investor in the company to the value of the property they have bought. The investor will have ownership rights over the property, but if they make changes to the property which are outside the company's guidelines they will be removed as investors in the company and lose the benefits this entails. Although we cannot recommend such an approach to buy a house, you don't even need to come here at the outset. We can buy the house for you and you will become an investor in Low Impact Living Transilvania.
